I've been to many of them. Here's my biggest issue with them: they don't know what they are talking about! Now of course they do to an extent. They've read all the books. They know all the symptoms. They can tell you exactly whats going on in your brain. But do they really understand the things they are talking about. from what I've experienced the majority of these "doctors" only know text book answers to our problems. But can a pill really be the solution? What do these doctors know about feelings? A psychiatrist should be the kind of doctor that can put a side the text book for a minute and pay attention to feelings instead. But they simply look at these feelings as another symptom for something strictly chemical. But things aren't that simple.
When it comes to emotional/ mental disorders I strongly believe that you can't fully understand it unless you've been through it. I had a therapist once who had some serious issues with depression when she was growing up. This is what lead her to decide to become a therapist. She wanted to do as much as possible to prevent others from suffering the way she did. Because of this she knew what she was talking about. In order to truly help someone you should understand what they are going through. Unfortunately my mom stopped taking me to her. My mom liked to refer to her as "the wacky lady." I'm not entirely sure why.
The reason I'm talking about this is because I've recently been seeing the counselor at my school. I find it hard to believe that a counselor could possibly actually care (I mean
really care) about every single one of their patients. But they could at least pretend to a little bit. She doesn't at all. Everything is strictly business. Now of course it has to be to an extent but how the hell do you expect me to share my feelings with you when you act like you're bored in my presence? Everything she says is so rehearsed. I swear she sits and writes down all the questions she's going to ask me before I come in. Which in itself isn't a bad thing but she always seems to be expecting a certain answer from me. If I don't say what she wanted me to say she'll repeat the question.
I can't stand it. I can't stand how people say they care when they really don't. I can't stand how almost every therapist or psychiatrist I've ever been to doesn't really know a thing about what they're talking about or what they're medicating. They expect us to be zombies. And when we're not they blame it on some kind of problem, some kind of disease.

Ever seen just a pure Psychologist? They don't prescribe medication. People I'm close to dealt with depression for a while. Psychiatrists only wanted to med him up, but a true Psychologist actually helped him through the situation and he came out fine.
@FOXHOUND_HQ - I've been to psychologist that doesn't med before and I felt the same way. That they simply wanted to hand me over to someone else every time things didn't go there way. I definitely don't think all psychologists are this way, I just seem have bad luck.
I'm tired of the "text book" solution to everything which seems to be what most people use.
@xxmusicxxfreak - From what I've observed, a lot of Psychs will fit into one of two categories. They either legitimately want help people, or they go in with their own agendas.
I wish there was something that I could say, but I don't have anything very profound.
I totally understand what you mean though. It makes me furious when people don't care. Have you tried confronting them about it? Just telling them straight out that you feel that they don't care?
@BeccaBalboa - yeah, they deny it. or ignore me, haha
It's the worst in school systems. It's the same cycle all the time. Teachers always say that you can go to them if you need to talk. So you go to the teacher.. they barely listen to a word before they send you to the school counselor, who sends you to a therapist, who sends you to a psychiatrist, who gives you pills. no one wants to deal with you themselves.
@xxmusicxxfreak - wow. That's...ugh, I don't even know what to say. It makes me just want to start slapping some of these people around, since talking to them doesn't work.
I wouldn't recommend slapping them around though, lol.
@BeccaBalboa - haha, I'll make sure to do that next time :)
